The Fortress of Mirina is built in a rocky and steep peninsula and communicates with the land only from eastern. It constitutes the biggest in extent fortress of the Aegean.
In the eastern and southern side, the wall is high and the number of towers is relatively large, while in the northern and western side, the wall is by far lower and the towers more rare. In the tallest point of the hill there is a half-destroyed building with lots of internal spaces. Still, inside the Fortress is a Turkish Temenos, an underground vaulted space and tanks.
Today the Fortress of Mirina constitutes a visiting monument for the public.
